5 Ways I Use AI at Work (and Why You Might Want To, Too)

It’s not about man vs. machine — it’s about man with machine vs. man without.”

— Jack Ma

If you’re reading this, chances are you already squeeze every ounce out of your day. So do I. And that’s exactly why I’ve woven AI into my daily routine, not to replace me, but to free up my best thinking for the work that truly moves the needle.

Here’s a peek at how AI runs alongside me at work and how it can do the same for you if you’re serious about playing at the top of your game:

 Meetings That Write Themselves

Note-taking? I’ve left that in 2023. Tools like Fireflies AIRead AI, or Otter.ai record, transcribe, and pull out clear action items from every call, automatically. By the time I wrap the meeting, a neat recap is already in my inbox (and everyone else’s). Less “Wait, what did we decide again?” and more progress.

Try this: Connect Fireflies to your Zoom or Google Meet and watch the magic happen.

Content Research at Warp Speed

Remember opening 20 tabs, skimming through PDFs, and copy-pasting notes into a doc? Gone. I let AI summarise dense whitepapers, reports, or even competitor blogs for me. What took an hour now takes five minutes, leaving me to focus on using insights, not hunting for them.

Prompt idea: “Summarise this 10-page report in 5 bullet points. Highlight any risks or trends worth noting.”

Instant Insights, No Data Bottlenecks

Waiting for the next team dashboard? Not my style. With tools like ChatGPTClaude AI, and AI-powered Excel plugins, I whip up quick analyses, build mini dashboards, or pull trends from raw sheets, no need to ping the data team for every tiny request.

Prompt idea: “Here’s my sales data. Spot any drop-offs, outliers, and suggest where I should focus next quarter.”

Flawless, On-Point Communication

High-stakes email? Board update? Client pitch deck? I pass it through AI for tone, clarity, and brevity. It’s like having a second pair of eyes that edits out the fluff and polishes my message, fast.

Prompt idea: “Rewrite this email to sound clear, confident, and persuasive, but keep it friendly.”

Creative Brainstorms Without the Block

Writer’s block, campaign fatigue, tagline struggles, solved. When my mind’s blank, AI is my patient collaborator. I toss in a prompt, and it shoots back ideas to shape, reject, or remix. It keeps me moving, even on off days.

Prompt idea: “Give me 10 catchy taglines for a sustainable coffee brand targeting busy millennials.”

In the race to stay ahead, most professionals still see AI as a flashy add-on,  or worse, a threat to their jobs. But here’s the truth: the real advantage goes to those who use it deliberately to supercharge what they already do best.

It doesn’t make you brilliant overnight. It doesn’t think for you. But it does free you to do more of what only you can do, and to do it faster and smarter than ever.
